True Independence
Gandhi, Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel: these are few of the countless names that engulf one's mind when one thinks of the independence day or the freedom struggle of India. India, which is known as the largest democracy of the world has achieved this feat only after a series of sacrifices and movements. The losses endured for us to celebrate the independence day are unrepayable and will adorn the tricolour for ages and ages hence. 15th August 1947, one of the greatest milestones of Indian history, is celebrated as independence day. Proudly and rightly so, this independence is the gift of our ancestors. It all started with Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and this spark gradually grew to become the fire that eradicated British rule from India. Progress in independent India has been rapid. Railways, education and every other field has developed with time. And, days are not far away when we would be seeing India compete with the top-ranked countries in the world.
